Mental Health

Hello! I’m Elizabeth (she/they). I find joy in sharing my experiences with mental health and having autism.

Parenthood

I’m a stay-at-home twin parent. I’m continuously growing and learning for my children. Writing helps me reflect on my experiences, feel less isolated as a parent, and share what I’ve learned along the way.

House Spouse

I’m a spouse that works from the house. From creating to advocacy, my home is my primary workspace. And I live on a rural farm, so it gets interesting. And I have some fascinating adventures and hobbies… so its nice to have a safe place to write about it all.

From China to America in 5 Minutes

I’m on the 5th hour of a 13-hour flight from China to America… and I have writer’s block. I would love to write a series of thought-provoking posts about my travels, but inspiration betrays me at the moment. I’m currently in a “time change Twilight Zone”. A 12-hour time hop. In Beijing it’s 9:17pm on… Read more

Weird Chinese Food: Scorpions on a Stick for 5 Yuan

The great Buddha once said, “When in China, dine as the Chinese do”… and that’s exactly what we did…. Okay, Buddha never said that– but it sounds cool. Steve and I stepped of the Korean Airlines flight at approximately 4:30am (Chinese time), and in our jetlagged stupor we make a pact— during our month in… Read more

Something Stands Between my Husband and I

Normally the phrase “something stands between my husband and I” is a negative statement, but in my marriage it is a wonderful and comforting one. Our dog is always between us. She walks between us on hikes, sits between us on the couch, and sleeps between us in bed, she even took a seat between… Read more

I Didn’t Buy My Husband a One Year Anniversary Gift

The sacred One Year Anniversary Gift. Newlyweds spend weeks shopping for the perfect gift to mark the end of their first year… But not me. During the weeks approaching my One Year Anniversary I didn’t give gift selection a thought. Why? Because I started on my gift 365 days ago. For our Anniversary my husband… Read more

    Caffeine Cat: A Split-Second Story

“As long as there was coffee in the world, how bad could things be?” (Clary, City of Ashes) A book quote about one of my favorite things. Pretty perfect, huh? But do you wanna know something that isn’t so perfect? A cat that breaks a BUNN Coffee Pot. I heard the crash, ran to the… Read more

A book by any other name would still smell as sweet: but only one can be my favorite

Books are made of paper, string, glue, and ink. When these materials are alone they don’t seem very significant, but when put together they can be life altering… For years I’ve been exploring binded stacks paper for “The Best Book of All Time”; perhaps I’ll never find it, but the search will be legendary. I’ve… Read more
