Reading the last book of a series you’ve fallen in love with is an emotional task: you want to read quickly because you’re excited. But you need to pace yourself because you don’t want it to be over… Sure, you can re-read it. But you can never again re-experience it for the first time.

You have fallen in love with characters, grown to despise others, even changed your mind about a few…. Since they are living inside of a series you’ve known them for such a long time; 3 books, 4 books, 5 or 6 books perhaps– you’ve been through so much together.

Every day you look forward to the time you get to spend with them; whether it be 10 pages or 6 chapters.

You are tied to the characters as if being dragged behind a carriage, and you cannot let go or turn the course aside.

When this book series is over you will indeed start another… You will meet new characters; however, as you meet these ‘new characters’ you will indeed find yourself comparing them to the ones from your last series.

Connecting yourself to a new series of characters can make you feel like you are deserting the ones you already love. It can seem unbearable; but as Magnus Bane said, “You endure what is unbearable, and you bear it. That is all.”

Characters you love will never leave you.

… and I love reading books that become movies, but I hate waiting for the movie to come out once I’m done with the book. Geek Problem.
