About Elizabeth

Blogging: the unlimited frontier. These are the voyages of the Uncustomary Housewife. Her life-long mission: to share housewife confessions. To seek out new recipes. To inspire kindness. To boldly go where no housewife has gone before.

Venture into my blog and you’ll find a multiverse of random, yet interesting, stuff; farmhouse recipes, housewife confessions, geek chronicles, mental health awareness, kindness… and much, much more. I hope you’ll explore, find what suits you, and visit often.

I’ll begin by answering a frequently asked question: “Why The ‘Uncustomary’ Housewife?” It’s simple, really. “Uncustomary” means “out of the ordinary”; to be an oddball, quite peculiar, bizarre, a geek, a nerd, not what you’d expect… and that’s exactly what I am; eclectic, and odd… and a housewife.

Housewife Confessions: This is how my little blog began, really. I was a young newlywed who wanted to write — but things were different back then. I never planned on being a full-time housewife, or living on a farm… but now I find myself doing both, and loving it. Marriage is an amazing adventure, and being a housewife is a fulfilling occupation; in this category I talk about my marriage, myself, and the things I’m discovering along the way.

Cook Long and Prosper: Like all jobs, the title of “Housewife”, comes with a list of “professional responsibilities”, and cooking is at the very top of my list. In this category I share some of my favorite recipes, and food stories.

My Mental Health: I don’t mind talking about mental health… and in this category, that’s exactly what I’m doing.

Geek Chronicles: I’m a geek. I read comic books to my dogs, I watch horror films with my cat, I go to Broadway shows with my husband, and I’m unapologetically enthusiastic about all of it. That’s one of the greatest things about being a geek: we never have to “play it cool” about how excited we are. We are allowed to be giddy with excitement about fictional characters… it’s amazing, it’s liberating, it’s geekdom.

My World Travels: From America to China, with love… and some places in between. Here you will find some stories, lessons learned, and pictures from my travels.

America: The Greatest Country Ever Stolen: Lin Manuel-Miranda, as Alexander Hamilton, once stated, “What is a legacy? It’s planting seeds in a garden you never get to see.” So, in this category I’m exercising my free speech, in a number of ways.

Photo and Writing Challenges: WordPress challenges bloggers with photo and writing prompts, sometimes I rise to the challenge and compose a blog in reply to those prompts. This category is full of my prompt replies.

Note, some posts will appear in more than one category, as they touch on more than one topic. I hope you visit frequently.

Live Long and Prosper.

Sincerely, the Uncustomary Housewife

Thanks for following Elizabeth! I’m still new to this blogging thing. :/ lol

    • You’ll get the hang of it pretty quickly. Follow “The Daily Post”, they post writing prompts daily and weekly, sometimes I rise to the challenge, they are pretty cool prompts. Check my page out (Click the black menu bar at the top of my page). I blog about a lot of different topics, but that’s the cool thing about blogging, isn’t it? We can write about whatever we want.
I’m glad to see you’re doing well. It’s nice to hear from you.

    • How has the blogging world been treating you?

  6. Coolest blog I’ve seen in a while. Your wedding duds say it all. Talent. Pure talent. And not a “precious” bone to be found.

  7. Hello! I’ve just found your blog, via a weekly challenge you wrote. It’s a great blog! I’m quite new to blogging and write about lots of different things. We live on a yacht in Greece, but are currently in the uk visiting friends and family. When we get back to the boat, my blog will mostly be about sailing, and the places we visit, but at the moment it’s a rather random blog about what I get up to every day.

  8. What a lovely blog! Your puppy looks so adorable. Alert and sitting with poise. Too cute 🙂
