I’m Elizabeth and this is my Uncustomary Housewife Blog. Thank you for finding me. I’m happy you are here and I sincerely appreciate you. If you want to learn about me and my blog, you are in the correct place.
I write about living with bipolar disorder and obsessive compulsive disorder. I started writing about mental illness for simple reasons — I felt alone and I wanted to tell people about it. I didn’t realize that mental health advocacy would become a permanent thing for me or that my blog would become a safe place for conversations about mental illness. It was all unintentional but I’m overwhelmingly glad that it happened. I recently launched the mental health section of my blog and now I feel a responsibility to continue sharing. I know what it’s like to feel completely lost and alone. I know how isolating and debilitating that can be. So I will continue sharing in hopes that my words will find people like me. I want you to know that you are not alone. You matter.
I’m much more than my mental illness. I’m also a full-time housewife who lives on a farm. I have four dogs (all beagles), some senior chickens, and a house cat. I often write about my marriage, myself, and some of the things I’m discovering along the way in my housewife category. I also share some recipes that I love in my cooking category.
I write about mental illness and depression a lot but please remember that I sincerely love my life. I’m an absolute geek. I love things dearly and deeply. I love film, Broadway, books, superheroes, and so much more… And I’m unapologetically enthusiastic about the things I love. We all deserve to be jump-up-and-down excited about something. It makes life grand. I’ve even added a a geek category to my blog so I can share some of my thoughts.
I hope my blog helps you. I hope you visit often.
If you have a question for me, want to write a guest post, or need to contact me I would sincerely love to hear from you, please check out my contact page. You can also connect with me on Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram.
You matter. You are not alone.
Sincerely, Elizabeth Banks
